Adam Parkes
Adam joined the family firm in 2008 as a junior accountant with a focus on small business and personal tax. After obtaining his designation and gaining 10 years of experience and knowledge he became a partner of Parkes & Company in 2018. Adam provides tremendous value to his individual and corporate clients through creative problem solving and efficient tax planning. He has also modernized the firm, allowing for improved communication and streamlining the flow of information. Away from the office Adam enjoys spending time with his family, playing volleyball, and hiking with his dogs.
Terry Parkes
The last of the original partners of the firm, Terry has seen and done it all. He has over 40 years experience preparing personal, corporate, trust, and US tax returns with a level of professionalism and care that cannot be overstated. Built upon a foundation of expertise and trust, the relationships that he develops and maintains with his clients often last for decades. In the few hours that Terry is not in his office he can often be found playing with his grandchildren or out on the golf course trading one-liners with his friends.
Harvey Benoit
Harvey has been working as a consultant with Parkes & Company since 2011. Previously a partner in his own firm, he brings a wealth of experience to our office. His specialties include estate and trust returns, investment and professional corporations, and complex personal tax matters. In his spare time Harvey enjoys curling, golf, and spending time with his six grandchildren.
Christine Schroetter
Christine is the friendly face that will greet you when you walk in our door. She has been running the office since the Spring of 2018 and is responsible for ensuring our clients receive the best possible support. A caring and dependable mother, when Christine isn’t looking after her work family she is off with her children on another adventure.
Loralee Smyth
Loralee joined our team in 2016 after 25 years in the community newspaper industry and now manages a sizeable portion of our personal and corporate tax files. Detail oriented and highly organized, she also performs most of the in-house payroll and bookkeeping work. When Loralee isn’t working she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, camping and exploring Vancouver Island, and volunteering.
Oreo & Toby
Oreo and Toby have been fixtures at the office since 2011 and can be found in Adam’s office 2-3 days a week. Approaching retirement age their duties are limited, but they are occasionally called upon to clean up a spilled lunch or assist in delivering some tough tax news to a client.
